Frequently Asked Questions

What ages do you work with?+

I primarily work with elementary-aged students (grades K-5) with dyslexia, but I also support older students who need structured literacy intervention.

Do you offer virtual sessions?+

Yes! I offer both in-person and virtual dyslexia intervention sessions. Virtual sessions work beautifully for structured literacy instruction and allow me to work with families across Texas and beyond.

How long until I see progress?+

Every child with dyslexia is different, but most families notice improvements in confidence and skills within 4-6 weeks of consistent sessions. Dyslexia intervention is a marathon, not a sprint—meaningful gains build over time with regular practice.

Does my child need a formal dyslexia diagnosis first?+

No! In Texas, schools are required to screen for dyslexia, but you do not need a formal diagnosis to begin intervention. If you suspect your child has dyslexia, I can help with screening and get them started on the right path right away.

What is Orton-Gillingham?+

Orton-Gillingham is the gold standard for dyslexia intervention. It's an evidence-based, multisensory structured literacy approach that uses sight, sound, and touch to help dyslexic learners connect letters with sounds and build reading skills systematically.

How does dyslexia relate to special education in Texas?+

In Texas, dyslexia is now served under the special education umbrella. Students identified with dyslexia may receive services through an IEP or continue with a Section 504 plan. I help families understand these options and advocate for the services their child needs.
